Genealogical Research

My approach in Lost Branches is that I leave no moss covered stone unturned when I take you on as a client. Depending on your request, I will perform any or all of the following:

Document search:

  • Search and obtain a copy of a document at a library, archive, court house or other location.

For new clients with little or no family research work:

  • Documentation of your existing genealogical information
  • Creation of a family tree database
  • Development of a project plan for an extensive genealogy search for extension of your existing information
  • Acquire sources and documentation for information found during the genealogy search
  • Provide printed or digital files of all information found

For clients with existing family research:

  • Thorough analysis of your existing genealogical information
  • Development of a project plan
  • Extensive genealogy search for extension of your existing tree
  • Acquire sources and documentation for information found during search
  • Provide printed or digital files of all information found

In both cases a database of collected materials can be provided that is compatible with Family Tree Maker 2017 under Windows 10. Purchase of the Family Tree Maker software is the clients responsibility. If requested I can provide a GEDCOM file for export to other family tree software. Generally, digital copies of most documents are provide as JPEG or PDF files. This work culminates in my major deliverable: a detailed family tree that puts you on the road to achieving both your long and short-term genealogical goals.

What you can expect from me as a Professional Genealogy Researcher:

  • Statement of Research Problem: Built on client’s information and prior research
  • Work Plan: Outline of resources most likely to provide a solution to the research question
  • Research and Analysis of Resources: Thoroughly provide as much evidence as possible
  • Written Report: Can include a family group sheet, family tree chart and data entry, if requested
  • Recommendations For Continued Research Documentation
  • Digital or paper copies of all documents found during the research

I do not write family histories but can recommend several people who can do this work for your family using the genealogy research I can provide.
